A Lecture on Life Explosion
There is a Cambrian period when single cell life evolved into multicellular forms. And geoscience experts are curious about why it happens. One plausible hypothesis is that access to more nutrients lead to the proliferation, so here comes another question: what causes tons of nutrients. The hypothesis believes that some present-day continents collided with each other at Cambrian time and formed a huge mountain range. And also the mountain range was near the equator, so frequent rains helped to weather those rocks and sands and brought mineral materials to the ocean. Those mineral nutrients went through the food chains and pushed organisms to evolve into new species. For example, more calcium means the possibility of crustaceans. So the comparatively quick and huge convergence of nutrients brought to the life explosion.
